THE MOSLER MT900R GT3

Exterior
Dubbed everything from “the only true heir of the McLaren F1 GTR” to “Group-C racing for the 21st century” the Mosler MT900R is without a delicious piece of eye candy.

It is odd how shapes that defy the laws of physics and Mother Nature best, simultaneously account for a car that does not have one unprepossessing angle on it. Nevertheless the Mosler MT900R GT3 pulls off this amazing feat: an exterior that works and looks the part.

Aerodynamics
The aerodynamic supremacy of the Mosler starts on a place where it cannot even be seen; underneath the car with a complete flat floor with ‘Venturi channels’ that start at the adjustable front splitter which produces downforce and ends with a big multi channel rear diffuser at the end which enhances the transition between the high-velocity airflow underneath the car and the much slower airflow of the ambient atmosphere.

At the front, teams can opt for a various amount of ‘dive planes’ that generate even more downforce on the front wheels.
In order to balance the car out, the rear is mounted with a massive adjustable spoiler that improves the stability of the Mosler MT900R by decreasing lift and improving (aerodynamic) grip.

Bodyworks
The entire exterior body has been made up from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The body shell itself is made from one piece. The nose, the engine cover and the rear end can be taken off in a flick of the hand if required.

Wheels, brakes and tires
The Mosler MT900R GT3 sits on 3 piece aluminum BBS wheels of 18”. Mosler Automotive recommends all Mosler teams to wrap these wheels with Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX slick tires. These tires that have proven themselves in competition in amongst others the DTM and the LeMans 24 hours are mandatory in the Mosler Challenge. In this wheel-tire combination sit the massive brakes supplied by AP Racing, all four brake discs are ventilated and manually adjustable.

Interior
The interior of the Mosler MT900R hardly falls short of the cockpit of a modern jet-fighter. Like a jet-fighter only the essential controls are positioned around the driver, the cockpit of the Mosler is made from the composite material ‘carbon fiber reinforced plastic’ and as in a jet-fighter in the Mosler there is hardly room for the driver either.

The most important control panel in the Mosler is the multifunctional steering which -amongst other- holds the controls for the traction control, the flipper paddle sequential gearbox and the MoTec M800 system.

Every Mosler MT900R comes with the Motec M800 system; the next generation in Engine Management Systens or ECU’s. This system has been developed through rigorous research and practical field-tetsing. The M800 retains all the best features of all ECU’s, while offering a combination of unsurpassed power and flexibility.

It goes without saying that the Mosler MT900R GT3 is equipped with a professional ‘pedal box’ which complies with FIA regulations. This optimisation is essential for those who aim for the top, it allows the driver to focus on that what matters: race!

Engine
The Mosler MT900R GT3 packs a by Mosler Automotive modified GT3 Spec General Motors LS7 engine mapped for 98 octane unloaded fuel. The LS7 is a 7.0 litre engine whose crankshaft and main bearing caps are made of forged steel for durability, the connecting rods are forged titanium and the pistons are hypereutectic to keep the relatively small mass pistons in check when they thermally expend at race operating temperature.

The peak output is 570 bhp (388 Kw) at 5,900 rpm and 684 Nm (540 ft. lbf.) at 4,800 rpm. The LS7 engine is hand-built by the General Motors Performance Build Centre in the United States and modified for race-usage by Mosler. The LS7 can amongst others be found in the Chevrolette Corvette Z06.
