A great win for Alex Van 't Hoff in the second race of the opening rounds of Dutch Supercar Challenge.

The Dutch Supercar Challenge opened in Hockenheim this weekend 8th – 10th April with a disaster for Berry Van Elk. With the Blueberry Mosler in the hands of Nol Köhler for a practice session, the cockpit started to fill with smoke. Köhler pulled over and managed to escape safely, but as fire took its grip on the car only one marshal appeared with a fire extinguisher. The local fire brigade took ten minutes to arrive, by which time the car was rendered to a smouldering, charred wreck. A massive blow for the team, who are left pondering their options for the rest of the season.

The first race saw the 2010 GT Championship winner Alex Van ’t Hoff lined up fourth on the grid and a great race unfolded for the first twenty minutes with Cor Euser dominating up in front, with Van’t Hoff Abresch, Basu and Sijthoff battling out behind. Sijthoff in his Speedtec Viper SRT10 falling behind as Van ‘t Hoff took second place, but technical problems caught up with the Mad & Daring Mosler. “My manifold was cracked explained Van ‘t Hoff after, “otherwise I think I would have held onto second place.” The Carworld Mosler entry had a short lived first race at the hands of Milko Tas. With problems with his door, followed by a technical problem with the master switch, his drive ended in the tyre wall. “I think I went into the corner to hard, and the tyres were not sufficiently warm.” said a disappointed Tas.

Race two on Sunday was an altogether different day for Alex Van ‘t Hoff, pulling spectacularly up through the field from 19th place, picking off his opposition relentlessly to record a commanding victory for the second race of the weekend. Congratulations to Alex and his team.

There should be two of the new Mosler Super GT models entered in later rounds of the Dutch Supercar. Kevin Riley of KRM, who has moved up to the new model for this season experienced problems in last weekends GT Trophy in the UK so was unable to compete. And Martin Short will also be competing in selected rounds.
