Dutch Supercar Challenge landed at Donington Park this weekend and met up with Britcar and renewed it entente cordial of two years ago at Rockingham. With a four Mosler entry in DSC and two Moslers in Britcar it promised to be an interesting weekend.
Martin Short was out in the Rollcentre Mosler Super GT, and also back in Dutch Supercar for the first time was Kevin Riley in the new KRM Mosler Super GT. Alex van’t Hoff and Tas & Bouwhuis continue their campaigns in the Mosler MT900.

Short had a good qualifying and was second on the grid for the start of the race, and as the lights turned green, swept away to easily take the lead. In a race that seemed to be all his own, Short held a thirty second lead for most of the race. During the latter stages, oil on the track saw the deployment of the Safety Car, but it still looked to be a done deal for Short when a fuel pump problem saw him cruising down Wheatcroft and out of the race. Alex van ‘t Hoff stayed up near the leaders but failed to make any real impression on the field. Further down the field Carworld Motorsport also were looking to find their form, and Kevin Riley had been unable to solve his mechanical issues to make the grid to start.
“I’m gutted, said Short. The team will be working on this to find out what the problem is, but my money is fuel pump issues. If it is, we should be back in tomorrow, but I will have to start from 14th place. Very disappointing”

Despite the problems of being further down the field at the start of race 2 Short quickly scythed through the field in typical Short fashion, making quick work of the opposition to be up to third place after just one lap of the Circuit. After contact between two other competitors which saw the Safety Car out again, Short and Cor Euser caught the Viper of Sitjhoff napping at the restart and shot through. After the pit stops Short took the lead, when the issues of the fuel pump reared again, with the engine cutting out at Coppice, Short pulled over, but quickly restarted to rejoin the race, bringing the Rollcentre Mosler Super GT in second. “Another frustrating day, said Short after. “The car is running well, and then this happens again. Fortunately, I got it going again, but lost a win.”

In the pack behind, Carworld Motorsport looked to be having the best race of their season so far, battling out in a close fight with the Viper Sijthoff and the Corvette of Grouwels and holding around fifth place. Unfortunately, their hot laps were ended when the car pulled abruptly into the pits to have a fire extinguished, with Bouhwuis exiting rapidly and safely from the car.

The Mad & Daring Mosler of Van ‘t Hoff had another day which failed to ignite the time sheets and he had to settle for 10th place. Kevin Riley suffered with more technical problems and ended back at 15th.
