MOSLER CHALLENGE NEWS

AUSTRALIAN GT CAR SET TO ENTER THE MMER AT SEPANG

Breaking news about one Mosler MT900 more familiar to the Australian GT series, the IMAK sponsored Mosler owned and driven by Andrew MacPherson will be taking part in the 12 hour MMER at the Sepang International Circuit in August. Joining MacPherson will be Mike Reedy and Australian GT championship leader David Wall.

The MacPherson team normally run the Mosler on Michelin rubber, but as organisers of the Sepang race organisers have made Pirelli tyres compulsory, Reedy spent a lot of the time at Goulburn's Wakefield Park evaluating the new tyres with the set-up on the car they had previous, and then changing the set up to suit the new tyres. The Bathurst driver finished the tedt day extremely happy with what they had achieved.

"The test wasn't conclusive as to what set-up is required for Malaysia, but our times were comparable with the Michelin's and gave us an understanding what the Pirelli's will be like. It was a freezing cold day, which made it really hard to get heat into the tyres for a while, but after a while it was right.  We are happy where we're up to with the car, and now extremely confident it is ready, and can do the job for us in Malaysia, so now it is set to be packed into a container and shipped out mid June," Reedy said. The Sepang 12 hour will be the Bathurst drivers second endurance race this year, having recently competed in the world famous and highly dangerous Nurburgring 24 Hour race in a Volvo S60R where he and Sydneys Martin Bailey and Kean Booker and German Klaus Ebbing finished the gruelling event 90th outright and fifth in the SP4T class for over 3 litre turbo cars.

Now in its 11th year, the Sepang 12 hour race is forging a reputation as being one of the most popular endurance races on the world motorsport calendar, and this year is expected to attract one of the strongest fields yet.

One major change this year is the start time which is now at midnight with the finish at midday, instead of being the other way around. The change was made in an attempt to restrict the risks of heavy storms interrupting the race.

Whilst it will be the first time Reedy and MacPherson have competed at Sepang, but it will be Walls fourth start in the round the clock event, though the Bathurst driver has had experience at other Asian tracks at Shanghai and Zhuhai circuits in Formula Renaults.
