MEXT SECOND IN DUNLOP ENDURANCE CUP

Olivier Van Oost has joined MExT Racing in Class 2 of the Dunlop Endurance Cup. He will alternate the driving with Dirk Van Elslander and Lieven Goegebuer. After Martin Short drove with them at Assen last year and helped steer the team to second place they were inspired to strengthen the team in a bid for the Championship in 2010.

Goegebuer thinks the arrival of the young Flemish driver will bring added value for MExT. With commitments that mean he cannot fully dedicate himself to racing, Goegebuer is happy to share the drives with team mate Van Elslander. The car has been fully prepared for the season and the team has been restructured.

The opening race 150 minute race of the season at Zolder last weekend (10 - 11 April) saw their optimism immediately rewarded with Van Oost claiming pole position by a second, and the Mosler being the favourite for victory.

The start of the race saw a fine duel between the Dunlop Endurance reigning Champion team of De Coster and Langberg and Van Oost develop, with a change of driver after 50 minutes. At the driver change Van Elslander served a penalty for exiting too fast through the pit lane, and with the team checking a problem with the brakes and making a tyre change valuable time was lost.

However with a second in class under their belts after the opener, team boss Goegebuer was upbeat. “I am satisfied with the outcome. The drivers and the entire team have delivered an excellent job. We have started the season well and we now have three races at Spa Francorchamps to look forward to, a circuit that the Mosler does well at.”
