MOSLER CHALLENGE NEWS

MOSLER GT300 HAS ARRIVED

Singapore, 30 March 2010 - La Chaux-de-Fonds based Swiss watchmaker CORUM, will be naming Singapore's own race car driver, Melvin Choo, from Thunder Asia Racing, as its brand ambassador for 2010. CORUM will again sponsor Choo, which will be competing in the upcoming Super GT 2010 season. The Super GT is the fastest GT race in the world, with a large fan base in Japan and the rest of Asia.

"I am very privileged to be able to compete as the only Singaporean and the first foreign team at the highly competitive Super GT season," says Melvin Choo, Thunder Asia Racing.

The new car has arrived with the ThunderAsia team and they first impressions are very positive.

It is planned that Choo will be putting the newly developed Mosler GT 300 through its paces at the second round of Japanese GT. The car is essentially Mosler shaped and carries over the same suspension as the Mosler GT3 car, but the chassis has been replaced with a tube frame, which has allowed more extensive aerodynamics to be developed.

The 7 litre Chevrolet engine has been replaced with a Judd XV 3.4 litre V8. The GT300 class is limited to 300 bhp, and the restricted Judd fitted the weight / performance / efficiency criteria very well. The Gearbox is a Hewland NLT.

The car weighs 1100 kilos, in line with minimum weight for the GT300 class and more like the weight of the GT3 Mosler without its penalties.

After the shakedown in the UK before the car was dispatched Martin Short Mosler Europe MD said: "I expected the car to be a bit special and it certainly was that. The weight balance of the car has moved forward , and the advanced aerodynamics were very effective, with the aero performance matching the figures that were developed on the CFD Package by TotalSim.
The car feels very sharp indeed, but with only half the power that we are used to in a Mosler, it required a more hustling driving style, which was very enjoyable. The noise from the Judd was very special, bringing the Silverstone pitlane to a standstill.
It would have been preferable to have more development time so we will be chewing our nails at Silverstone during the Dutch Supercar Challenge with an eye over in Japan.”

Melvin will be driving in both Japanese GT and Asian GT, and sharing the driving with evergreen racer Tim Sugden.
