As son of Dutch Supercar Challenge organiser Dick van Elk, Berry was infected with the racing virus at an early age. Aged 25 Berry has probably already spent more time on racetracks than most people do in a lifetime.
Initially Berry worked as a mechanic on his father's Esprit V8, however appreciating dear life Dick decided that was not a good idea or as Berry says it: "I probably break more than I repair." This made Berry decide to start racing himself.
Having raced a BMW and a Mini Cooper S Turbo with mixed successes in the Dutch Supercar Challenge, Berry made the great leap forward in the winter of 2008 by acquiring a Mosler MT900.
In doing so Berry is now fighting the big fishes in the sea and remarkably he has to learn everything all over again. Going from the small Mini tires to the giant Mosler tires, going from 260 BHP to 570 BHP and perhaps the most thrilling from 205 KM/H in the Mini on Spa to 275 KM/H in the Mosler on Spa.
Early season tests have shown that Berry does have what it takes to go fast in the Mosler, so he may be the rookie to watch in 08!
